WHO WE ARE
More Than a Language Class
ABD Club is a cultural learning community helping children build a lasting connection to their Yoruba language, culture and identity.
We create opportunities for children to learn Yoruba, understand the culture behind the language, practice what they learn, and build confidence using it in everyday life.
Whether they are beginning with their first Yoruba words or already understand the language, there is a place for them to grow at ABD.
Language. Culture. Identity. Community.

From structured Yoruba classes to cultural experiences that bring heritage to life, ABD Club gives children different ways to learn, practice and connect.

SUMMER AT ABD CLUB
Explore Culture Differently
Themed summer experiences combining language, creativity, stories, culture and discovery — online and through selected in-person experiences.
And learning doesn't stop in the classroom.
Throughout the year, children also connect through cultural outings, community service, intergenerational experiences, games and celebrations.
OUR APPROACH
Children Learn Yoruba by Using Yoruba
We don't want children to simply memorize words and translations. We want them to understand Yoruba, respond to it and gradually become comfortable using it in everyday situations.
That's why the ABD Club learning experience is built around three simple ideas:
01
LEARN IT
Build the Foundation
Children develop vocabulary, listening skills, expressions and cultural knowledge through structured, age-appropriate lessons.
02
 PRACTICE IT
Turn Learning Into Use
Activities, assignments, conversation, games and guided practice give children opportunities to use what they've learned beyond the lesson.
03
Experience the Culture
Cultural experiences, community activities, stories, celebrations and intergenerational connections help children understand that Yoruba is more than a subject — it is part of a living culture.
LIVE IT
LEARN IT | PRACTICE IT | LIVE IT
BEYOND THE CLASSROOM
Heritage Is Something Children Should Experience
At ABD Club, learning doesn't end when the lesson does. We create opportunities for children to explore their heritage, serve others, build relationships across generations and celebrate Yoruba culture together.

EXPLORE
Museums, heritage outings, excursions and cultural discovery help children encounter history and culture beyond a screen.
SERVE
Meaningful community-service projects teach children that heritage also includes responsibility, compassion and giving back.

CONNECT
Intergenerational experiences bring children and older generations together to share stories, wisdom, music and life experiences.

CELEBRATE
Cultural gatherings, performances, games and our annual Yoruba Day celebration give children opportunities to proudly share what they have learned.

Culture isn't something children only learn about. It's something they experience, share and carry with them.
ABD CLUB COMES ALIVE
See Our Children Learn, Practice & Live It
Our children don't just learn Yoruba words. Through games, songs, poetry and shared experiences, they discover the language, values and wisdom carried within the culture.

Kindness in Action - Helping Others
Through music and Yoruba expression, children explore the importance of helping others, showing kindness and recognizing their responsibility to care for people around them.

Learning Through Play - Ekun Meran
Through Ekun Meran, children explore perseverance in the face of challenges and the strength of standing together to protect what matters.

Taking Learning Home - Tinko
Tinko turns the Yoruba number system into play - reinforcing what children have learned while giving them a fun way to practice and bond with parents and siblings at home.

Speaking Life - Affirmation in Yoruba
Through Yoruba adffirmations, children expand their vocabulary and build confidence using the language while learning to speak positively about themselves and who they are.

The Value of Education
Through song, children build Yoruba language skills while learning about the importance of education, knowledge and making the most of opportunities to learn
